BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Kaylon! This was Kaylon's first Helmet ever! It is so good when one of the guys wins their first Helmet! Dylan was there at the end with Kaylon, but the guys were determined to get Kaylon his first Helmet. It is amazing how the Helmets have been so spread out this year.

This week we played Mike 23 for the second and last time of the year! It is interesting how the scores rise and fall after each mini-game. At one point Jason's team had a big lead, and then it was Ryley's team that had the big lead. The problem with having the lead is, that the other three teams pick on the team with the lead. In the end, it was Keegan and Dane's team that won Mike 23! They spent most of the game in third or fourth place, but pulled out the win on the last round!

MIKE 23 FINAL SCORES
Keegan's team - (6)
Jason's team - (5)
Ryley's team - (0)
Jakob's team - (-3)

In the Bible study our topic was "The God of all Comfort".

2 Corinthians 1:3-7   Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

This passage calls God, "the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. Isn't this the kind of God that we need? Isn't this the kind of God that we should get to know? God comforts us in all of our troubles, whether big or small!

2 Corinthians 4:17-18   For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Romans 8:18   I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Paul tells us that God will comfort us in all our troubles, and then he tells us that our present sufferings are not worth comparing to the eternal glory that will revealed in us! He is telling us that our temporary pain will totally be worth what we will gain in eternity! We should not forget, that God will be with us through the storms of life! He has not left us alone on this earth to figure things out on our own!

It is Winterslam 12 (Boxing) this week at Btln! (6:45-9:00 p.m.) Wednesday, February 1st

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Luke! This was Luke's second Helmet of the Btln Season! The final two were Luke and Deshawn. Neither made it all the way to the wall on the final round of Bulldog, but Luke made it further across the gym than Deshawn, winning the Helmet and the Yorkie!

This week we played Lukas Boschmann's favourite, the Btln Trifecta! The first leg of the Trifecta was Murderball. My team easily won Murderball winning all three games. The second game of the Trifecta was Handball. Handball was more evenly matched. Ben's team had and early lead, that my team was able to overcome, winning 7-6. Even though my team had already won the Trifecta we went to the third game, Fire-Fever-Flood. The last man standing for FFF was Mike, giving my team the clean sweep, 3-0!

In Bible study, the topic that Ben chose was, "Do you know where you are going after you die?"

John 14:6   Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

1 Timothy 2:5-6a   For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

Romans 10:9-10   If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Ben made it clear, that if we wanted eternal life in heaven with God, that Jesus was the only way!

The question is, what happens to those that don't declare that Jesus is Lord?

Matthew 25:41   “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Matthew 25:46   “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

Revelation 21:8    But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

If God had not provided a way out for us, we would all be destined for eternal punishment and death!

1 Corinthians 15:57   But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:17   But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.

2 Corinthians 2:14   But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.

BTLN UPDATE

Congrats Keegan! This was Keegan's second Helmet of the Btln Season! Dane was there at the end with Keegan and probably should have been down earlier, but Dane was able to break through the grip of five guys to live on for another round! Keegan was just to strong to be taken down. With everyone focusing on Keegan, we finally got him to the ground.

This week we played Handball. My team was up 9-5 early on, but we were unable to hold onto the lead. Ben's team clawed back, tying the game at 12. Tyson held my team in the game keeping it close especially when Ben's team made their move. We went to the traditional next goal wins, and it didn't take long before Isaac scored the winner for Ben's team! The final score was 15-14.

In the Bible study our topic was God's grace.

Romans 5:20 - 6:2   The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

This passage tells us that no matter how great our sin is, that God's grace is greater! This does not mean however that we have a license to sin. (How can we live in sin any longer?)

Ephesians 1:7-8   In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.

The forgiveness of our sins is because of God's grace. God pours out this grace on us the moment that we ask him for his grace.

Ephesians 2:6-10   And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

It is amazing to think that God will be showing us the riches of his grace throughout the ages to come! It is this grace that saves us apart from works, it is God's free gift to us!
