CREATION 08!

It's hard to believe that it has been five years, one thing for sure Creation never disappoints. Leroy is giving me a hard time about getting this post done, so Leroy this is for you.
Tuesday night the guys showed up at my house to help me pack. We started talking and it became clear that we were probably going to leave Tuesday night instead of leaving Wednesday morning. We decided to make Nathan Klassen the voice of reason, he was coming over to get a new Btln medallion. We told Nathan our conundrum,(big word, pretty smart eh?)obviously leaving at 10:00 p.m. is never a good idea, but Nathan told us what we wanted to hear, so we left that night. The border guard was a little skeptical when we arrived there around 10:30 p.m. but after a few questions he relented,(he let us go, another big word, I'm on a roll) we arrived at Wal-Mart in Colville around 11:30 p.m. We bought our supplies and left for Spokane. Somewhere between 1:00-2:00 a.m. we ate at Jack in the box, and let me tell you Jack is no friend of mine. After Jack we headed for the I-90, traffic was not a problem. About this time energy drinks became necessary, and the next thing we knew the sun was up.(It was a sweet sunrise, although it was kinda depressing) At 5:00 a.m. we arrived at Creation, we drove right in and set up right away. For the rest of the day we rested and didn't do very much.(obviously we were wiped) That night we went to Leeland, Hawk Nelson and Kutless, our first 24 hours were awesome!

Thursday we slept in. (as much as is possible in the heat, the new tent made a difference) In the afternoon we went to watch Pillar and after that we made one of our many trips to the merch. and c.d. tents. The whole week we had a crib tourney going on, we played a lot of crib. That night we went to Jeremy Camp and Switchfoot. No matter what you think of Switchfoot's music they are very entertaining, they are great live. Like years past it was so hot in the mosh pit that every night one of the highlights was drinking either Pepsi or Hawaiian Punch in a cup filled with ice. Menno was the snack of choice before bed. We started keeping track of all the things D-Pod hasn't done,(you haven't lived until you have .....)(e.g. eating at Red Robin) We also started keeping track of all the people that Charlie hates.(The list is pretty long, if you are reading this you are not on the list.)

Friday we went to see KJ-52, we were late for the concert but were able to meet him. We gave KJ a Btln Medallion, he was cool about it. That night we went to the Youth leaders only tent and listened to Tobymac give his testimony.(Among other things) It was sweet! Toby was saved at a summer camp.(Pines anyone?) After the talkback we walked outside and were able to meet Shonlock, one of Toby's singers/dancer/rapper, we gave him a Medallion. Later that night we watched Skillet and Tobymac. It was my first time watching Skillet, they were pretty good, I will probably buy their c.d., they were very entertaining. Next was Toby, and his show is always second to none. Always lot's happening on the stage. That night before the concert I was complaining to Ben that we never catch anything when the sponsors and the bands throw things into the crowd. You guessed it, that night Toby's drummer threw drum sticks into the crowd and I was able to grab one of them, needless to say it now resides in the Ark.

By Saturday we were ready for a break from the sun so we decided to go swimming. But because we didn't get Red Robin on the way down we decided to drive to Wenatchee.(Tuesday night we had gone to Red Robin's web sight.) Scratch one thing off of D-Pods list. After Red Robin we went to the river.(near Wenatchee) We became the entertainment for all those at the beach, apparently these people have not seen suicide frisbee before. I think Charlie came out on top. After we got back to Creation it was time to go see T.F.K., we have seen them many times, but this was the best concert I have seen them perform. If you have ever been to Creation you have seen the free hug t-shirts, and I am baffled every time I see one, why would you spend your money on this shirt? I'm not sure who's idea it was but we decided to buy one of these shirts. We decided that the loser of the crib tournament would have to wear the shirt to the Newsboys concert and not be able to turn down any hugs. Charlie lost and was forced to wear the shirt, it was hilarious, there were a lot of people smiling and laughing, Charlie was a good sport. That night we saw David Crowder and Newsboys, both Crowder and Newsboys were pretty good although I have come to expect more from the Newsboys. (Their light show is usually awesome)The Newsboys did the battle of the drummers and guess who caught one of Peters drum sticks?(I will never complain about not catching anything ever again) We were able to get set lists from the bands that played last each night, the streak is alive, it is now three years and counting. Sunday morning we packed up and started driving home, we stopped in Spokane for Boston Pizza and did a little shopping. Another Creation is in the books, it was awesome, can't wait until next year! If you have anything to add guys, leave your thoughts in the comments.

I haven't forgot about the top fifty pics, the P-DUB or the Meet The Nation with Nathan Klassen, they are all coming soon.

P-DUB

This week with the P-DUB I wanted to look at a few short passages about our salvation.

Titus 3:4,5a But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.

Romans 4:4,5 Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.

2Timothy 1:9 God, who saved us and called us to a holy life-not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.

Ephesians 2:8,9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

It is good to know that God has taken care of our salvation! Can you imagine what it would be like if God required works for our salvation? How would we ever know if we had done enough good works? We should be thankful that God has taken care of everything. Knowing that we are saved by God's grace should produce good works in our lives, not in order to be saved, but because we are saved!
When the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.(Acts 16:30b,31a) All that is required is that we believe, Jesus will do the rest!

P-DUB

Here it comes, that's right it is time again for the passage of the week. I had a hard time deciding between a couple of different passages, I guess I can use the other passage next week.(just so many to choose from)

2Timothy 3:16,17 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

First off we need to understand that all of the Bible is God-breathed(inspired). 2Peter 1:21,22 tell us that prophecy never had it's origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Because the Bible is written by God it useful for teaching us how to make the right choices. At work we have alot of tools that make our job easier, they help us save time and also save us from alot of grief. God wants to equip us(he wants to give us the right tools) to do good works, that's why he has given us his Word. 2Timothy 2:15 tells us that we need to study God's Word so that we can correctly handle(use)it. Having the right tool for the job doesn't help unless you know how to use it. When we know God's Word we will make good choices and this will save us from alot of grief. Lastly 2Timothy 2:15 says that if we study God's Word we will have God's approval, what else do we want?

P-DUB

There are endless lessons we can learn from God's word, there are so many treasures hidden that are ready to be discovered. This passage is part of our memory work list, it is the Armor of God!

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

We are told to be strong in the Lord,(notice in the Lord)we usually want to be strong on our own, we need to be strong in his mighty power. Next we are told to put on the full armor of God. If we are missing even just one piece we are vulnerable. You know that the devil will find the weakness and try to destroy us. We must always put on the full armor of God, we can never let down our guard. It is also important to remember who our enemy is, the devil wants to confuse us, he wants us(Christians)to fight against each other. With God's help we should stand together against the devil and his schemes. Now we come to the armor of God, all of the armor is connected by God's word. The belt of truth is God and his word,(John 14:6) we need to know the truth, if we don't study the truth how can we defend it? A knowledge of the truth will also help us to make right choices and this is all that righteousness is. The gospel of peace is the peace that God gives us in any given situation. When trouble comes God will give us the peace we need to get through what ever life throws at us. God's word will comfort you, if you know where to look(Philippians 4:6,7). Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see(Hebrews 11:1). Faith is just believing what God has told us. We need to know what he has said in order to believe it. Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ(Romans 10:17). Knowing that you are saved will give you confidence when you go into battle, and that's exactly what life is. And you can know, that's again where a knowledge of God's word is important(1John 5:13, Romans 8:1). The last piece is the sword of the Spirit, and it is God's word. The sword is the only piece that can be used to attack as well as defend(Hebrews 4:12). Here are a couple more passages about the armor of God(1Thessalonians 5:8, Romans 13:12, Isaiah 59:17) Just one final passage.

1Corinthians 16:13,14 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.
